Charity provides opportunities to students at risk
Kokoda Youth Foundation, a Gold Coast-based charity provides opportunities to students at risk of exiting the school system by keeping them in education through a series of outdoor education activities over a six-month course.
In the first phase, the Kokoda Youth Foundation takes the students out of class once a week to train for the Kokoda event on the Gold Coast. In the second phase, they are taken to volunteer at different non-for-profits. These engagements are done with the hope the students will build relationships that will enhance retention at school.
