ACNC revokes Almost 400 Charities Registration
After ACNC notified that close 750 charities could lose their registration in April, it recently reported that almost 400 charities have failed to submit two or more Annual Information Statements have lost registration. According to General Counsel Anna Longley, many of the organisations who lost their registration had most likely stopped operating.
The ACNC has 60,000 charities registered under it which is being constantly reviewed. The information that is published on their Register is supposed to be provided by the charities in their Annual Information Statement. If the charities are not reporting, it’s Annual Information Statement then it loses ACNC registration and eligibility for certain Commonwealth tax concessions.
