Charities report increase in revenue by $10 billion
According to the latest Australian Charities Report, based on 49,000 charities from 2020, the increase in revenue by $10 billion was accompanied by an increase in expenses by $10.2 billion.
The increase in response to the tragic bushfires had consequently bought out the best in charities. Data showed that Australia has a pretty resilient charity sector, but many organisations also faced multiple issues during the pandemic, with around 650 charities stopping their activities.
Most of the expenses related to staffing, where part-time and full-time employees had also increased in 2020. In addition, 331,000 individuals were supported by the JobKeeper through ACNC registered charities.
